Pancreatin is a digestive enzyme. Pancreatin is used to aid digestion and absorbtion of food (starch, fat and proteins) when patient have pancreatic deficiecy.
Indications
Pancreatin is primarily indicated in conditions like Pancreatic insufficiency.
Contraindication
Pancreatin is contraindicated in conditions like Peptic ulcer,Hyperacidity.
Side Effects
The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Pancreatin include Hyperuricemia, Hyperuricosuria.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Pancreatin are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Maculopapular rash, Stomatitis, Hypersensitivity, Nausea and vomiting, Buccal & perianal soreness, Bowel fibrosis.
Warnings
If sign of hypersensitivity reaction occurs, discontinue the use of pancreatin.
High Risk Groups
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
